Greetings Ranger Families,
I hope you can get out and enjoy the wonderful weather we are having! It sure seems like spring with the birds singing and our Rangers at recess without snow gear! Feel free to stop in and check out the lost and found in the elementary commons.
February has been a busy month, but it looks like the next three months will be full as well! Mrs. Winter has the Scholastic Book Fair all set up, ready to begin sales on Friday, after school. The book fair will run until March 1st when we have our Dr. Seuss Carnival. Students will be able to view the book fair this week with their classes. Teachers also have a book wish list if you would like to sponsor a book for your child’s class; please reach out to your child’s teacher if you are interested. We are very grateful to a member of our community who donated to the book fair to allow every child in PreK through 5th grade to purchase a book!
Read Across America Week is next week! If you would like to be a guest reader on Friday, March 1st, please reach out to your child’s teacher. We finish the Read Across America Week with our Dr. Seuss Carnival. The Dr. Seuss carnival, sponsored by our amazing PIPTO group, will be Friday, March 1st from 5:30-7:30pm. This is a free and fun event…games, prizes, families, and lots of smiles! We hope you can join us! Along with the carnival, student council has designated dress up days:
Third grade will have a visit this Friday from Ray Dental for Oral Health Month. During this visit, the team from Ray Dental will talk about the importance of daily brushing and flossing and might have a few dental items for our students to bring home.
PIPTO is also sponsoring our annual science fair. The science fair is now a one-day event, March 4th. If you are interested in judging, please let us know as we can always use more judges.
Science Fair Tentative Schedule:
We are excited to host a guest author, Amber Sawyer. She wrote the book Love to Race and will visit with our elementary students on March 8th at 2:15pm in the theater. If you would like to purchase a book, they are $15. The form for book ordering is in this email and will also be coming home soon.
Please note we do not have school March 14-17 due to spring break. Hopefully, our nice weather will continue!
Spring pictures are March 21st. Picture packets will be coming home when it gets closer.
Do you know of anyone who will be five years old on or before September 1st, 2024? We are looking for the next kindergarten class; the class that will graduate in 2037! Our kindergarten roundup will be March 25th and 26th in the theater. Please call Mrs. Shelby at 605-574-3013 to schedule an appointment. Please bring updated immunizations, birth certificate, and proof of address to the screening.
Easter is early this year. Please note we will not have school March 29-April 1st.
Third through fifth grades will be taking the South Dakota Assessment the first few weeks of April. Your child’s teacher will reach out with specific dates. During testing, please encourage your child to get a good night’s sleep and come ready to test. Lunchtime Solutions will be providing snacks during testing and please remember breakfast is free through the end of the year. If you know you will be taking a vacation April 2-19, please let your child’s teacher know as we may need to make up testing. We will be conducting an after-school test prep to help the 3rd through 5th grade students with the testing platform. More information on the after-school test prep when it gets closer.
Upcoming dates in April:
We will be organizing field trips, track and field day, kindergarten graduation, and many other end of the year events soon. Please reach out if you have any questions or need clarification. We love our parent involvement and appreciate all the support you give our school family!

¡Espero que puedan salir y disfrutar del maravilloso clima que estamos teniendo! ¡Seguro que parece primavera con los pájaros cantando y nuestros Rangers en el recreo sin equipo de nieve! Siéntase libre de pasar y ver los objetos perdidos en los comunes elementales.
Febrero ha sido un mes ajetreado, ¡pero parece que los próximos tres meses también estarán llenos! La Sra. Winter tiene la Feria del Libro Escolar lista, lista para comenzar las ventas el viernes, después de la escuela. La feria del libro se extenderá hasta el 1 de marzo, cuando tengamos nuestro Carnaval de Dr. Seuss. Los estudiantes podrán ver la feria del libro esta semana con sus clases. Los maestros también tienen una lista de deseos de libros si desea patrocinar un libro para la clase de su hijo. Por favor, póngase en contacto con el maestro de su hijo si está interesado. ¡Estamos muy agradecidos con un miembro de nuestra comunidad que donó a la feria del libro para permitir que todos los niños de Preescolar a 5º grado compren un libro!
El tercer grado tendrá una visita este viernes de Ray Dental para el Mes de la Salud Bucal. La Pascua es temprana este año. No tendremos clases del 29 de marzo al 1 de abril.
Los estudiantes de tercero a quinto grado tomarán la Evaluación de Dakota del Sur las primeras semanas de abril. El maestro de su hijo se comunicará con usted con fechas específicas. Durante la prueba, anime a su hijo a dormir bien por la noche y a que venga listo para la prueba. Lunchtime Solutions proporcionará refrigerios durante las pruebas y recuerde que el desayuno es gratuito hasta fin de año. Si sabe que se tomará unas vacaciones del 2 al 19 de abril, infórmele al maestro de su hijo, ya que es posible que tengamos que recuperar los exámenes.
