Hello and welcome to the 2023-2024 school year! My name is Deidre Ortiz and I am excited to teach 2nd grade in Hill City. I stayed home with my children for many years, and during that time I went back to school to get my teaching degree. I graduated from Utah State University in 2021. I taught 5th grade at Canyon Lake in Rapid City last year. 

I was born in South Dakota and grew up in a military family, so I have lived all over the United States and Europe. My family lived in the Hills, so growing up I spent a lot of summers and Christmas breaks here. My husband and I moved here in June 2022 with our 5 children and are excited to call Hill City home.
