hey guys happy Thursday to you unless you're watching this on a different day for some reason that's fine too and happy whenever I watch on Thursday and today what we're going to be talking about in our grammar lesson today is shades of meaning Eric sounds really familiar okay because we have already talked about this year shades of meaning like I put on the board here meaning words that mean the same thing but are slightly different K and you might be thinking of Shades as in I don't know the shades of color you know like something could be light red red or dark red K but that's the same thing that we talked about with words K and what they mean let's talk about the word talk k talk is going to be our original word our main word were using but it also can go who AC okay now when we talk we usually talk about how loud or soft someone talks right okay and that is what we're going to be talking about okay I'll let you know if someone were to talk but well I just did it whisper K it might be whisper okay that's how you talk if you were to talk quietly okay or if you were to talk quiet okay then you're going to whisper if you talk very loudly what if you talk like this at this volume you're maybe not so much quiet anymore now you're a little louder okay now what would your shade of meaning be there cuz you're talking you're right but you're talking loudly what word what you use their yes you're going to use yell okay you might yell but no matter what you're doing you're still talkin K whether you're yellow you're still talking K and that's what shades of meaning is it's the words that mean the same thing but there's little tiny differences that take change it into a different word because you're doing the same thing but how you do it change it okay now let's do let's think about think k don't talk about the shades of meaning of think so I give you a thing about this thing I'm thinking I'm thinking of something Elvis and I think really hard and I can think really well about this thing and I know a lot of information about this thing I understand this thing really well so what might you use if you have a lot of knowledge this thing you know a lot about this thing so instead of you sing something now all the sudden you know something right now you know something you don't just think you know I think I can go to the park today nope I know I can go to the park today I think mr. Chase is a good teacher I know he's a good teacher okay or you might say I think Jason isn't a good teacher and then you might say I know he's not a very good teacher he's not very smart okay what if you don't know a lot about the thing what is I'm asking you about quantum mechanics I'm talking to you about metaphysics and metacognition and things like that and all these big words that I don't even know what they mean okay so now you know what that means I don't know okay what word might you use that's don't know you might blank you might blank on that information I go I don't know what that is a tablet I don't know my mind is blank you might be at blank so that's what you're talkin about today it's just how how words change by how heavy or light they are okay just like by how the sound of you talkin changed the word you used because if you just talk like this regular volume no no changing your volume at all then it is talk but if you can but then your voice changes like this and you're very loud and your dog talkin but you're a yelling but no matter what different volumes understanding something all of those things just like the word run show me I've been trying to do every day during this at home time I've been trying to go out and run okay running a medium speed right just running like this game it me a little fast like this but you're running run as hard as I can I try to run as fast as I can as hard as I can I'm trying to win a race or something am I running anymore yes but there's a better word that you can use what do you think the better word that I can use I might be not running but I might be sprinting I might be sprinting Sprint instead of run let's go lo que sera running like this Analyse usually run nice and slow K might be running with buddy buddy hey how you doing doing great bridge got a new dog that's phone cool am I running anymore I'm going slow enough where I might not be running now I might yes I might John I might go on a jog it's not going to be as fast as a run and it's definitely not going to be as fast as a Sprint k if I go on a jog or run or I go Sprint I'm still going to be doing the same thing but at different speeds and that's what shades of meaning is small differences in the same words that use the word k just like sprinting is running really fast jogging is running pretty slow okay that's it today you have a worksheet on this to final worksheet with shades of meaning in them than the back side is proofreading for spelling I want you to read through that article and and correct all the spelling words for the shades of meaning side of it which be the front side it says explain why you chose that don't worry about it you don't have to do that you don't have to explain K I just want you to figure out which word fits the bill figure that out you don't have to worry about explaining it if you want to if you think you can go for it but if you can't that's okay to say so don't worry about explaining it otherwise I will see you when you come back here for math
